For Wales, see England admits Boris Johnson

Speaking on a visit to North Wales, Tory leader Boris Johnson told reporters ‘”It would be so much better if the Senedd, the Welsh Assembly, was run by Conservatives,” adding: “You would work together better as one country and that’s what I want to see.”

Welsh Labour’s Deputy Leader Carolyn Harris said:

“Finally, the cat’s out of the bag. Boris Johnson has today admitted what people in Wales have known for generations: that the Tories in Wales never stand up to their London bosses. And they never speak out when Tory policies hurt jobs in Wales.

“This slip of the tongue by Boris Johnson shows the real Tory plans for Wales if they form a government next week. Rather than basing decisions on the differing needs of each UK nation, the Tories in Wales would simply copy and paste policy from England.

“Welsh Labour has warned that the Tories in Wales would scrap free prescriptions, slash support for small businesses and cut 600 police community support officers. Now we have the Prime Minister admitting that Wales and England would be better as ‘one country’.

“The only way to protect 20 years of progress in Wales is to vote Welsh Labour on May 6th.”
